QuintEssence marks the fifth and culminating chapter of the acclaimed Elemental Series—an immersive experience crafted to awaken all the senses. Set atop the sweeping landscape of Big Mesa Farmstead in West Marin, with panoramic views of rolling hills and open sky, QuintEssence delved into the elusive fifth element. Drawing from the elemental themes of the previous four years, this final offering centered around one unifying force—LOVE.
Each evening starts with a multi-course, Farm Table feast served family style utilizing transparently sourced food from the local bounty of Marin and Sonoma Counties. Chef Matt Roberts returns to coordinate a diverse, talented team of chefs through the six-night culinary adventure including an authentic Spanish touch of Paella by retired San Francisco Ballet dancer Ruben Martin. Local purveyors includeBig Mesa Farm, Gospel Flat, Star Route Farms, True Grass Farms pork and lamb and Lucich’s Holistic Ag Beef. Wines from Enkidu, and beers and non-alcoholic libations curated by Mojo.
As twilight deepens, guests cradle warm cups of sipping chocolate and make their way to the open-air stage, where the world premiere of Julia Adam’s newest ballet awaits. This year, her ever-evolving ensemble of dancers welcomes fresh faces, including long-time collaborator and retired San Francisco Ballet principal, Joanna Berman. Julia’s unique brand of story-telling continues to morph with spoken word, song and broad exploration beyond the fourth wall as she weaves elements of the previous four years into a theme which is quintessentially about the heart.
